She was one of twelve children born to the Rev. Peppers Mohoney Locklear and Mrs. Mary Catherine Hunt.  Married to Mr. William Edward Lloyd, she was the proud mother of three sons:  Mr. Herbert Hoover Lloyd and Mr. Tommie Kurt Lloyd both of Pembroke, NC and Mr. Donald Glynn Lloyd of Buffalo, SC, who preceded her in death on January 7, 1992 and one daughter:   Mrs. Willia Lloyd Burton of Bonner Springs, Kansas.  Mrs. Zetta is also survived by one brother:  Mr. Peppers Mohoney Locklear, Jr. of Raeford, NC; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and a host of relatives and friends and one special friend Mr. Dwayne Glynn Dill of Buffalo SC.

 

Locklear, Mr. Andrew, age 79; B. Nov. 6, 1914 and  Mrs. Mary Nancy, age 73; B. September 16, 1920 of the Prospect Community, Rt. 3, Maxton, NC died Wednesday, January 5, 1994 as a result of an automobile accident.

They are survived by two daughters; Mrs. Andrea Cummings and Mrs. Dorothy Dial, both of Pembroke, NC and one daughter the late Mrs. Sherriell Dial who preceded them in death.  Two sons; Mr. James Earl Locklear of Rowland, NC and Mr. James Hammonds of Maxton, NC.  Eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Also her care-keeper, Ms Shirlene Chavis.

 

Mr. Locklear was the son of the late Mr. Luther W. Moore and Mrs. Zenie Locklear.  He is survived by five sisters; Mrs. Mary Baker of Warsaw, Indiana, Mrs. Sarah Hunt of Lumberton, NC, Mrs. Mable Cummings, Mrs. Cleo Locklear and Mrs. Jane Sampson, all of Maxton, NC (Prospect Community).  Six brothers;  Mr. Harbert Moore, Mr. Charles Moore, Mr. Earl Moore, Mr. Carl Moore and Mr. Richard Moore, all of Maxton, NC  and Mr. Claude Moore of Danville, Va.  One Uncle, Mr. Paul Locklear of Maxton, NC.

 

Mrs. Lockear is survived by six sisters:  Mrs. Mary Lee Goins, Mrs. Sallie Mae Dial, Mrs. Edna Strickland and Mrs. Deloris Moore, all of Pembroke, NC.  Mrs. Beulah Oxendine and Mrs. Deletha Locklear, both of Maxton, NC.  One brother; Mr. Melvin Ellis Dial of Pembroke, NC.

She was the daughter of the late Willie Foster and Mary Bell Lowery Locklear.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Willie Brewington, Jr.  Her survivors are her husband Purvis Locklear of the home; two sons Larry Brewington and Gregory Locklear both of Lumberton, NC; two daughters Dlora Jean Locklear and La Rue Locklear both of Lumberton; two brothers Floyd Locklear and Donald Locklear both of Lumberton, NC; three sisters Sadie Ray Blanks of Pembroke, NC, Dorothy Lowery of Albuquerque, NM, Josephine Locklear of Lumberton, NC; and fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Locklear was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Frank Locklear and two sons, Marvin and Gene Locklear.  She is survived by four sons; Eddie Mack, Wilbur,. Joseph, and John Hyce Locklear.  Three daughters, Hazel Locklear, Rosa Bensch, and Helen Jones.  Four brothers, Ira Pate, Bernard, Theodore, and Jason Lowry.  Four sisters, Lula Yearicks, Prebble Oxendine, Eunice Young and Bernice Webb.  Twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

She leaves behind two sons, Marshall Ronald Locklear and wife, Regina, and their two children, Barry and Monica; Gary Lynn Locklear and wife, Molly, and their two children, Brooke and Bradley; two sisters, Edith Upton of Pembroke, and Hazel Jones of Duluth, Ga.; three brothers, Eutherd (Buddy) Locklear of Pembroke, Ralph Locklear of Fresno, Calf., and Earl Locklear of Wrightsville Beach; and two great grandchildren, Austin and Colby.  A brother, Winford Locklear, preceded Mom to Heaven.

She was the first of seven children born to Julius and Annie Locklear.

His parents were Eugene and Dorothy Locklear.  Surviving are his wife, Tina Marie; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Locklear; 2 brothers, Gene Eugene, Jr. and Gene Grant; one sister, Gina Maria.  Gino was known to us in this life as a kind, warm hearted and generous person.

Mr. Locklear’s parents and siblings are as follows: father, Floyd, B. Feb. 1865; mother, Flora, Jan., 1865; and siblings: Maggie, B. Sept., 1888; Annie, B. Nov., 1887; Belton P., B. May, 1891; Julious, B. Sept. 1892; E.L., B. Sept., 1894; Willie F, B. Dec., 1897.  The family rents a farm and cannot read nor write.

He was the son of French and Bozie Hunt Locklear and was reared by his mother and step-father, Mr. Charlie Oxendine whom H.B. cared and provided for until his stepfather’s death.  He married Macy Dial in 1947 and they had one son, Houston Brentleigh.  They had a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Locklear, and two grandchildren-Tiffany Brette and Houston Bradleigh.  He left two sisters, Rosa L. Sampson of Cleveland, Ohio and Nolar Bell Hunt of Fairmont, NC and a brother, Felton Locklear (deceased) of the Deep Branch Community in addition to a host of friends, relatives, nieces and nephews, all of whom affectionately called him “H”.

Locklear, Mr. Ike Eisenhower, age 47 of Route 2, Pembroke, NC

He was the son of Mr. Curtis and Mrs. Vashtie Locklear.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Easter Ray Deese.  Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Locklear, two brothers, Edison and Freddie Locklear, both of Pembroke, nine sisters, Helen, Lucrady, Diane and Beverly Locklear, all of Pembroke.  Vivian Wood of Lumberton, Annie Sue Athey of Martinville, Va., Linda Kay Locklear of Parkton, Judy walker and Cheryl Koziol, both of Memphis, Tenn.  He is also survived by eight step-children, three step-daughters, Leah Lowry, Bobby J. Chavis and Sally L. Matos, all of Pembroke, NC.  Five step-sons, James E. Lowry, Hubbard Lowry, Robert Lowry, Albert Lowry and Ivory Lowry, all of Pembroke and a host of relatives and friends.

 

Locklear, Lt. Col. James Quinten, died of a heart attack on the Greek Island of Rhodes

Because of where he died his widow, Sussie Locklear, had to bury him the same day of his death of a heart attack on the Island of Rhodes.  He was one of 10 students from the Cherokee Indian Normal School, as Pembroke State College was known at that time to participate in a federal pilot program in the late 1930s.  He got his pilot’s license  as well as a teaching degree.  He taught math for a short time at Pembroke High School before the outbreak of World War II at which time he joined  in 1942.  The U.S.  Air Corps sent him to officer’s cadet school  in Atlanta Georgia where he graduated.   He joined his friend James Swett  who had also volunteered for the Air Corps.in service for his country as a pilot as well.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. Theodore Maynor and Mrs. Elizabeth Oxendine Maynor.  She is survived by her husband, Nickie L. Locklear of Pembroke, NC; two children, Elizabeth Joy and Nick Aaron, and grandchild, Nikala.

 

Locklear, Rev. Jefferson Davis, age 87 of 67 Hwy 710 N. Pembroke, NC

He was preceded in death by his parents Redden and Lucy Locklear, a son Rev. Willie E. Locklear, two granddaughters, one grandson, one great-great-grandson and five brothers.  Surviving are his wife, Frances Hunt Locklear of 66 years of the home, three daughters, Ruth Brewer and husband Lesley Brewer of Shannon, NC, Brenda Newkirk of Pembroke, NC, Carol Pike and husband Harry Pike of McLeansvile, NC, two sons, James Harold Locklear of Pembroke, David G. Locklear of Alexander, Va.; one brother, Patterson Locklear of Pembroke, two sisters,  Myrtle Carter of Fairmont, Marie Hunt of Lumberton, 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren.

 

 

Locklear, Ms. Joyce Oxendine, age 54 of Pembroke, NC

Her parents are Daisy Lee Locklear Oxendine and the late Calton Oxendine.  She was preceded in death by a former husband, Grady Locklear and three children, Rebecca Locklear, Myra Locklear and Carey Locklear.  She is survived by her mother, Daisy Lee Locklear Oxendine of Pembroke, her husband, Jeffery Locklear of Pembroke, four daughters, Donna Locklear and Sandra Hagans, both of Pembroke, Vickie Oxendine of Lumberton and Tonya Locklear of Fayetteville.  Five brothers, Alton Oxendine of Va., Merlin Oxendine, Calton Oxendine, Jr., Anthony Oxendine and Glenn Oxendine, all of Pembroke, NC.  Three sisters, Dessie Lowry of Rowland, Jan Oxendine and Twyla M. Paulk, both of Pembroke, NC and a host of relatives and friends.

She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Doretta Johnson Demery.  Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Lowry, another daughter and son-in-law, Terri Lynn and Randall Hammonds, one brother Lloyd Demery, Jr.; four sisters, Elsie Hammonds, Emma Locklear, Martha Odum, and Sadie Hillebrand; five grandchildren, Cary Mitchell “Spanky” Chavis, Michele Lowry, Austin Hammonds, Jousha G. Locklear, and Danielle Hammonds; two great grandchildren, Cary Mark Chavis and Caycee McKenzie Chavis.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Percell Locklear; a son Mitchell Locklear, a daughter, Sarah Neal Locklear, a grandson, Mitchell Percell Locklear, Jr., two brothers, Walter and Clewis Demery; a sister Magadeline “Maggie” Maynor.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Wallace Locklear of Springfield, Pa.; one daughter, Laura DuBois,  and two grandchildren.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Ransom of Robeson County, NC.

She is survived by:  five daughters, Mr. Patricia Lowery and Mrs. Deanna Lowry of Pembroke, NC, Mrs. Sandy Baker of Rocky Mt., NC, Miss Paula Locklear and Miss Lisa M. Locklear of the home, three sons; Eutheed Ray Locklear of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Charles P. Locklear of Clinton, NC, and Phillip D. Locklear of Greensboro, NC, two sisters, Mrs. Lela Chavis of St. Pauls and Mrs. Grace Locklear of Lumberton, NC, eight brothers; Mr. Frank Bell of Rennert, Mr. Carson Bell and Mr. Ertle Ray Bell of Pembroke, NC, Mr. Willie Bell, Mr. Stacy Bell, Mr. Son Bell, Mr. Hardy (Bill) Bell all of Lumberton, NC and Mr. Daughtry Bell of Maxton, NC, eight grandchildren.

She was one of 15 children born to the late Rev. Oscar R. and Mrs. Suzie Jane Sampson.  Mrs. Lucy Locklear was preceded in death by her husband, Plummer Locklear.  She is survived by a niece: Ruth Locklear Dial of the home; one brother: John Paul Sampson of Decatur, IL; two sisters: Charity Sampson of Lumberton, NC and Martha Sampson Locklear of Jennings, La.

 

Locklear, Mrs. Lula Deese

B. July 14, 1929; D. August 16, 1991 in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC

Services:  Faith Baptist Church

Interment: Church Cemetery

 

She is survived by her husband:  Mr. Henry Camel Locklear of the home.  Five sons: Mr. Wade Locklear, Mr. Larry Locklear and Mr. Vanard Locklear all of Maxton, NC, Mr. Roger Locklear of Carterville, Ga., and Mr. Hal Locklear of Maxton, NC.  Two brothers:  Mr. Haynes Deese, Sr., and Mr. Albert E. Deese both of Rowland, NC.  Three sisters:  Mrs. Mable Smith of Nashville, NC, Mrs. Eula D. Maynor and Mrs. Betty Strickland both of Rowland, NC.  Sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

He is survived by his second wife, Mrs. Stella Locklear of Pembroke, NC, one son, Samuel R. Locklear, Sr., of Pembroke, NC; four foster sons, Alvin Mercer and Hardy H. Bell of Pembroke, Larry Jones of Greenville, SC, and Harold Bell of Lumberton, NC; two daughters, Mrs. Ophelia Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Helen Wadford of Tucker, Ga.; three foster daughters, Mrs. Marlene Suddreth and Mrs. Melogene Elwood of Charlotte, NC and Mrs. Shirley Gavin of Chicago, Ill.

 

Locklear, Mrs. Macy Dial

B. October 3, 1923 ; D. July 28, 1997

Services:  First United Methodist Church, Pembroke, NC

Interment:  Dial Family Cemetery

 

She was the daughter of the late John Wesley Dial and Flora Agnes Bowen Dial of Robeson county, NC.  On April 18, 1947 she married H.B. Locklear at the Marriage Chapel in Dillon, SC.  They had one son, Houston Brentleigh Locklear.  She was preceded in death by her husband and son and four brothers:  A.G., Vernie, Johnnie and Tommie Dial and one sister, Sarah Dial.  Mrs. Macy is survived by a granddaughter, Tiffany  Brette Locklear and a grandson, Houston Bradleigh Locklear; three sisters; Cammie Lowry of Silver springs, Maryland and Fannie Dial Locklear and Agnes Dial Hunt both of Pembroke,NC and several nieces and nephews.

His parents were the late Loy Locklear and Flora Bell of Lumberton, NC.  Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife, Gertrude L. Locklear; and two sons:  Marshall Ronald Locklear of Matthews, NC, Judge Gary Lynn Locklear of  Pembroke, NC; three brothers-Bracey B. Locklear and Willie Sanford Locklear, both of Pembroke, Cecil B. Locklear of Lumberton; a sister, Mrs. Adlaide L. Boughman of Morganton; and four grandchildren.

 

Locklear, Mrs. Mary Belle Lowery

B. November 8, 1904; D. February 21,1994

Services: Mount Olive Baptist Church, Lumberton, NC

Interment:  Church Cemetery

 

She is survived by seven children:  Mr. Donald Locklear, Mrs. Josephine Locklear, Mr. Floyd Locklear, Mrs. Anna Bell Locklear and Mr. Willie F. Locklear of Lumberton, NC, Mrs. Sadie R. Blanks of Pembroke and Mrs. Dorothy J. Lowery of Albuquerque, NM.  Two brothers:  Mr. D.R. Lowery and Mr. Prentis Lowry both of Lumberton.  Twenty-four grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren and twelve great-greatgrandchildren.  And a host of relatives and friends.
