Maynor, Mr. Theodore

He was the son of Steve Maynor and Magnolia Bullard Maynor.  Mr. Maynor was one of fourteen children  born to this union and he has been preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters:  Dawley Maynor, Crossie M. Lowry, Lillie M.Lowry, Elias  Maynor, Wayne Maynor, Ethel M. Jones, Winnie Catherine Locklear, Dorcas M. Oxendine and  Lester Lowry.  Two brothers, Ben James Maynor and Esmer Maynor; two sisters, Mary M. Locklear and Georgia Rae Oxendine, all of Pembroke, NC all survive their brother. In January, 1929, he married Elizabeth Oxendine, a former classmate from Cherokee Indian School who had graduated with him in 1928.  Her parents were James W. “Bud” Oxendine and Janie Oxendine.   They were blessed with one daughter, Janie.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. Edmond and Mrs. Sally Hatcher Lowry of the Hopewell community, Rowland, NC and the wife of the late Mr. Jimmy Maynor.  She is survived by three children:  Ms. Roxanna Maynor Bailey, Mr. James Robert Maynor and Mr. John Timothy Maynor all of Velma Dr., Rowland, NC.  Four grandchildren:  Mr. Pernell Deese, Jr., of  Raleigh, NC, Ms. Karen Kay Deese Sampson, Mr. Joel Robin Maynor and Ms. Keesha Maynor all of Pembroke, NC.  Five great-grandchildren:  Masters Jason Pernell Deese and James Allen Deese both of Raleigh,  Miss Talechia Nicole Sampson, Miss Kayla Odell Sampson and Miss Bobbi Layne Sampson all of Pembroke, NC.  One brother, Mr. Varser Clinton Lowry of Berlin, MD. Moore, Marie Sampson, age 85

B. March 20, 1887 in the Deep Branch Community, NC; D. February 14, 1973

At age 24, she met a young school teacher, Charlie H. Moore, in the Prospect Community and they married December 13, 1911.  The became the parents of 7 children:  Charles, Curtis, James, Henry, Carrie, Marjorie, and Mary.  Surviving her are Charles H. of Dillon, SC, Henry and James of Pembroke, NC, Curtis of the home, Mrs. Carrie Dial of Pembroke, NC, Mrs. Marjorie Rhodes, Osceola, Indiana; and Mrs. Mary Moorehead, Montpelier, Indiana.  One foster son, James Porter, also survives her.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers:  Warren Sampson of Lumberton, NC and Walter Sampson of Tampa, Florida; 4 sisters:  Mrs. Rose Carter, Pembroke, NC; Mrs. Sadie Hunt and Mrs. Vernon Freeman, Lumberton, NC, and Mrs. Josephine Hunt, Pembroke, NC.  She leaves a host of friends who will cherish her memory until they meet her in the land of the redeemed.

Neville, Elizabeth O. Neville, Marilyn Margaux Neville, and a great-grandchild, Brylee A. Neville.  She is also survived by two sisters, Stella Vivian Nicks of Granville, Ohio, Genevieve L. Cole of Durham, NC, a brother, Elvery Dean Lowry of Hillsboro, NH and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Oxendine for 64 years.  To this union was born seven children.  The two daughters are: Mrs. Hubert oxendine of Pembroke, NC and Mrs. Joseph Renkiewicz of Charlotte, NC; five sons:  James Howard Oxendine of Charlotte, Simeon Oxendine and Harry Oxendine of Pembroke, NC; two sisters:  Mrs. Dewey Lockear and Mrs. Thomas H. Miss Georgie Rae has raised 8 children, who in turn gave her 22 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  She is survived by two daughters and six sons:  Mrs. Ruth O. Hurnevich of Hazel Park, MI, and Mrs. Magnolia O. Griffith of Pembroke; Thomas of Arlington, Va.; Robert E. of Welford, SC; Louis S. of Warren, MI; Joseph B. of Abington, Pa.; Earl Hughes of Pembroke; and Ray of Maxton, NC; one sister:  Mrs. Mary Locklear of Pembroke, NC, two brothers:  Ben James Maynor and Esmer Maynor of Pembroke, NC

 

Oxendine, Grady G., age 71, after a short illness

  1. January 26, 1926 D. January 9, 1997

 

He was the son of the late Lockey and Nancy Oxendine of the Union Chapel Community.  He was also the husband of Lettie Harris Oxendine.  They were married June 7, 1946 and to the union was born Donna Oxendine Locklear of Pembroke and David Oxendine of Raleigh, NC.  He was the grandfather of Nicole C. Locklear, Clyde B. Locklear and LaDonna Locklear.  Other survivors include Clyde Locklear, son-in-law and six brother: John Hugh (deceased),  Russell, Rev. Grover Oxendine, Roy, Rev. Alonzo; and Henry W..  He was preceded in death by Roosevelt and Veola O. Locklear.

 

He served in the United States Navy during World War II and immediately returned to pursue a career in education.  He received his education from Union Chapel School, Pembroke High School, Pembroke State University and Appalachian State University with BS and MA degrees.  Mr. Oxendine’s “life” of education lasted 36 years and he touched the lives of many children.  He retired in 1984.  Upon his retirement, his desire for educating children was still there.  He continued this pursuit by working with Pembroke State University to supervise student teachers.  He was a trustee at Pembroke State University.  He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church.  He served in the position of Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and was at the time of death assistant Sunday School teacher.  Grady G. Oxendine was a teacher, a principal, a mentor and a supervisor to students and teachers of Robeson and surrounding counties.  He was a husband, a daddy and granddaddy to his family.  He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed fishing and farming.  But most of all, he was a Christian who loved his neighbors, family and Prospect Methodist Church.  He was a loving servant of God.  He will be missed by the family, relatives and friends.  He served as treasurer for the Indian Honor Association of Robeson County, Inc.

He was the son of the late Anderson and Mariah Oxendine and was one of eight children.  He owned and operated Oxendine’s jewelry store in Pembroke, NC for over 40 years.  Mr. Oxendine is survived by his second wife Mrs. Mabel Oxendine.  One brother, Mr. Vernon Oxendine of Pembroke, one sister, Mrs. Verlie M. Jacobs of Maxton, NC and a host of relatives and friends.

George, Leon and  Millard H., four daughters Lois Baird of Temple, Texas, Gene Ware of Houston, Texas, Carol Holley of Leland, NC, and Deola Taylor of Morganton, NC, two brothers, James and Martin Oxendine; five sisters; Mrs. Roy Chavis, Mrs. Bennie clark, Mrs. Conley Oxendine, Mrs. Vernie dial, and Mrs. Lowry.  Grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He is also survived by three brothers: Rev. James A. Oxendine, Norman Harding and Fred Harding; also by one sister:  Mrs. Myrtle.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.

Her permanent residence was Bethesda, Maryland.  She was a retired Montgomery County, Maryland school teacher and the last living sibling of her parents, Rev. Walter and Lela Smith.  Vickie was predeceased by her husband, David H. Ransom.  She is survived by four children, Harrison, Jeff, Regina, and Chris; six grandchildren, Joe, Carrie, Christopher Wade, Alex, Joey and Ethan.  She is also blessed by three great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Madison, and Graysen.

He was the son of the late Mark and Alice Johnson Ransom.  There are no surviving siblings of the deceased.  Mr. Ransom is survived by his wife, Cottie Lowry Ransom: five sons, Andrew, Erytle and Adrain Ransom of Rowland, NC, Earl and Rev Julian Ransom of Pembroke, NC; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Kemerer of Rowland, NC and Mrs. Elsie Leasure of Baltimore, Md.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Wade Carroll and James Harvard Ransom.  There are also surviving, twenty-eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

 

Mr. Conley’s parents and siblings are as follows:  Father, Mark (Martin?)B. Nov. 1858; Mother, Alice, B. Feb. 1862; Siblings:  Ella J., B. Aug., 1881; James H., B. June 1882; Wailton, B. Household head can read and write—his wife cannot but attended 2 months school.  His mother cannot read or write.

Ransom.  Surviving are five sons:  Andrew, Eyrtle, and Adrian Ransom of Rowland, NC.  Earl and Julian Ransom of Pembroke, NC.  Two daughters:  Beulah M. Kemerer of Rowland, and Elsie Leasure of Dundalk, Md.  Also surviving are 7 brothers:  O.H. Lowry of Lancaster, Pa., Zeb, Bernard, Ira Pate, and Jason Lowry of Pembroke, NC.  Carlee Lowry of New Mexico and Theodore Lowry of Rowland, NC.  Four sisters:  Bertie L. Locklear of Lumberton, NC, Lula Yearicks of Philadelphia, Pa., Eunice Young of College Park, Md., and Prebble Oxendine of Rowland, NC.  She also leaves 30 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.  And a host of relatives and friends.

Cummings and Ruth Lowry, both of Pembroke, NC.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Bell Bullard Revels (1937) and his father, Earn Revels (1939).  Mr. Revels leaves one grand daughter (Alma Revels) one son Michael Doston Revels, many uncles and aunts, relatives and friends and a multitude of loved ones who loved and appreciated his presence and thoughtful acts of love.

Mr. Revels was married to Mrs. Winnie Lee Locklear of  the Union Chapel Community and they had two sons and five daughters.  One daughter, Rachel has preceded him in death.  He was devoted to his wife and family.  Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Winnie Lee Revels; two sons, Billie Dean and Juddie A. Revels Jr. of Pembroke; four daughters, Mrs. Mabel R. Chavis of Pembroke, NC, Mrs. Linda Ruth Shepherd of Rowland, NC, Mrs. Hannah Lowery of Pensacola, Florida, and Mrs. Deborah Lee Lowry of Pembroke, NC.  Also, his mother, Mrs. Nancy Revels of Pembroke, NC; one brother, Mr. Leroy Revels of Maxton. NC; five sisters:  Mrs. Dora Emannuel of Lumberton, NC, Mrs. Rosana Boyette of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Stella Joyce Kornosky of Lavonia, Mich., Mrs. Julia Hammonds of Rowland, and Mrs. Estelle Clark of Pembroke, NC:  11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He leaves to mourn his loss a host of relatives and friends.

He was the son of the late Mrs. Winnie Lee Locklear Revels and Mr. Juddie Authur Revels, Sr. of Pembroke, NC.

 

He married his wife, Olivia D. Maynor, and to this union came three children, Juddie Authur Revels III, and his wife, Gina; Leslyn Olivia Revels Smith and her husband Rodney; and Meloria Donalita Revels Malcolm and her husband Joshua.  He was blessed to have nine grandchildren, Tabetha C. Revels Parsons and her husband James Gavin, Rachel D. Revels, Brantley Smith, Brittney Smith, Breanna Smith, Johnathan Forrest Malcolm, Jena-Deme’ Revels, Alaina F. Malcolm and Braden Smith and baby Malcolm.  He also had two great-grandsons, Brenten Bell and Kaydein Revels-Parsons; and his two step great-grandchildren, Suniah Parsons and Nathaniel Parsons.  He had an extended family of young men that he truly loved and treated as his children, Santos, Luis, Jamie and Poncho; and all of his staff that has been loyal to him through the years.

 

He loved his brother and sisters.  Billy Dean Revels and his wife Lola; Mable R. Sanderson and husband Herb; Linda Ruth Sheppard and husband Richard; Hannah Lowery and husband Rudolph; and Debrah Lowry and husband Ray.  Juddie would never forget and would always include the many memories of his baby sister, Rachel Ann Revels whom he lost on Septemeber 22, 1972
