He was the son of Mr. Jim Sampson.  Mr. Sampson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cletus Sampson, two daughters, Laeruth  Sampson of the home, Mrs. Elsie M. Locklear of N. Charleston, SC, three sons, Mr. Wiley Sampson of the home, Mr. Sim Sampson, Pembroke, NC and Mr.  Ralph Sampson of Chicago, Ill. Five brothers and four sisters.

 

Sampson, Ms. Charity “Chat”, age 96

B.  May 20, 1901 ; D. April 3, 1998

Interment: Sampson Family Cemetery

 

She was the daughter of the late Mr. Oscar and Mrs. Susie Jane Oxendine Sampson.  She is survived by two sons:  Thomas Norman Oxendine, Jr. and Mr. Earl Jerome Oxendine both of Baltimore, MD.  Three daughters:  Mrs. Hazel Hassler of Oxford, Ohio, Mrs. Lucille Ames of Dale City, Va., and Mrs. Lee Ellen Jacobs of Pembroke, NC.  One brother:  Mr. John Paul Sampson of Decatur, Il.  One sister:  Mrs. Martha Locklear of Jennings, La.  Nineteen grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary L. Sampson of the home; his sons, Mr. Lee Edward Sampson of Lumberton, NC, and Mr. Claude A. Sampson Jr., of Oak Ridge, Tenn., his daughters, Mrs. Lae Ruth Mabe of Pembroke, Mrs. Linda Dubois of Lumberton, and Mrs. Levonda Rowe of Biloxi, Ms., seven grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

He is survived by three sons; Mr. Ernest Wayne Sampson, Mr. Benny Edward Sampson and Mr. Johnny Malcolm Sampson all of Lumberton, one daughter; Mrs. Gloria Jean Eakes of Greenville, NC, his step-mother; Mrs. Cathleen Hunt of Fairmont, two brothers; Mr. Marvin Sampson and Mr. Wilbert Sampson both of Lumberton, three sisters; Mrs. Willa Oxendine and Mrs. Gertrude both of Lumberton, NC and Mrs. Margie Hunt of Baltimore, Md., six grand-children and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Mary Magdalene Locklear Oxendine and the wife of the late Edwin Sampson.  Mrs. Margaret is survived by two daughters,; Mrs. Barbara Sampson Barton and her husband Bruce Barton of Lumberton, NC, and Ms. Bonnie Gail Sampson of the home, six grandchildren, John (Pete) Carter and his wife Lori, Teresa (Sissy) Willie and her husband Roger, Brandi, Tyra, Margo and Edwin (Little Man); four great grandchildren:  Little John, Mallorie, Seattle, and Jodi; two brothers Grover Oxendine and Hartley Oxendine, both of Pembroke, NC and a special friend, student, and care taker-Ms. Mary Cummings.  She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Edwin Sampson,; four sisters; Thelma Oxendine, Viola Oxendine, Verti Belle Fuller and Clara Mae Lowry; four brothers; Donnie Locklear; Joseph W. Oxendine, Carlie Oxendine and an infant brother Fremen Oxendine.

Mr. James Albert was the son of the late Oscar R. and Susie J. Sampson.  He is survived by his wife, Zetta S. Sampson; five sons: Thomas B. Sanderson of Spring Hope, NC; William C. Sampson of New Foundland, Canada; Gilbert L. Sampson of Pembroke, NC, Spencer R. Sampson of the home; Ellis W. Sampson of Ellicott City, Maryland; two daughters, Mrs. Rowena Peeler of Seidell, La.; Ms Angela Sampson of Ellicott City, Maryland, a daughter-in-law: Mrs. Oscar Ronald Sampson of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers; John Paul Sampson of Decatur, Ill., Joseph J. Sampson of Cleveland, Ohio; four sisters:  Mrs. Charity Sampson, Mrs. Lucy Locklear, and Mrs. Katie Lowry, all of Pembroke, NC; and Mrs. Martha Locklear of Jennings, La.; sixteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

 

Sampson, Mr. John Norman, age 56 of Rt. 2 Box 112 Pembroke, NC

B. December 21, 1933; D. November 4, 1990

His parents were Mr. Tracy Woodward Sampson and the late Mrs. Bessie Brayboy Sampson.  He was also the stepson of Linnie B. Sampson.  Mr. Sampson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fonchette L. Sampson , two sons; Norman Woodward (Woody) Sampson and Charles Norman Sampson, both of Pembroke, NC, one daughter; Mrs. Donna S. Graham of Pembroke, NC,  five brothers; Aubrey Sampson of Fayetteville, Kenneth Melvin Sampson of Spartanburg, SC and Winfield Sampson of Glenrose, Texas, three sisters; Mrs. Naomi S. Hardin of Lumberton, NC, Mrs. Irene S. Richards of Florence, SC and Diane Harke of Fayetteville; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sampson of Clinton, Miss.; T.B. Sanderson of Spring Hope, NC; Ellis W. Ransom; His mother, Mrs. Nora Sampson; four brothers:  Benny R. Sampson, Pembroke, NC, Earl B. Sampson, Pembroke, NC, Knox Sampson, Dallas, Oregon; and Gurney Sampson, Cupertino, California; two sisters: Mrs. Joseph Maynor, Elk Ridge, Maryland; and Mrs. Estelle Reese, Catonsville, Maryland; and a host of friends.

She was the widow of Mr. Oscar Sampson and is survived by:  sons: James Albert, John Paul, Joe, and daughters: Lucy Locklear Sampson, Charity Sampson, Ruth,  Mrs. Archie Lowry, and Mrs. Ledger Locklear Sampson.

Tennille Clark; his three brothers, Mr. Bennie Ray Sampson;  Mr. George Lacy (G.L.) Sampson, and Mr. Bobby Sampson; his five sisters, Mrs. Viola Eskamila, Ms. Annie Ruth Locklear, Mrs. Vivian Bell, Mrs. Pauline Brooks, and Mrs. Virgie Jones; his mother, Mrs. Maudie Sampson; and a host of relatives and friends.
