Welcome to my Web site! This web site is for those who are Lumbee or are interested in the genealogy of the Lumbees who live in the
area of the Lumber River in south-central North Carolina. On earlier
maps the Lumber River was known as the "Lumbee River". The river,
which is a branch of the Little Pee Dee River, flows through the North
Carolina counties of Hoke, Scotland, Robeson, and Columbus. Early
surveyors and settlers called it "Drowning Creek". Native Americans
were the first settlers there as early as 20,000 B.C.
